Past Shows Log

2-16-06: This was our first gig ever, at the University of Chicago, Hutch Commons. We played with The Passerines and others. It was the launch party for The Women's guide to the U of C. We were pretty nervous, even though we'd been rehearsing for about 5 months. Everything went well with the gig aside from a few technical issues and the usual bumps in the road. I think we were all glad it was finally over, but we had fun! Thanks to everyone who was there, and for your support!

4-21-06: This was our second show and it was in the same venue as the first show. The event was called Operation: Sexucation. Pretty much the same thing where nobody really paid us much attention, but we rocked it anyway. Solecism and Adriana Barr also played. And this time we didn't break anything and we didn't eat anything. If you were there, you'll never forget the filth and the fury that is... The Cathy Santonies.

5-11-06:As you can probably figure out, this was our third ever show at the U of C, Stuart Hall. Due to some weather issues, namely rain, we could not play outside, as planned, for Take Back the Night, but we played inside and it was pretty rockin' and some kids danced so it doesn't get much better. Had some more technical difficulties, which is becoming our "gimmick" apparently. Also playing were the always charming Passerines, and trio Gamine Thief, who both sounded great. Thanks to everybody who came down to hear us in the basement, we had so much fun!

8-2-06: We played an outdoor gig; on a hot, steamy day. There was ice-cream, but we got none. There was a smattering of people watching, and some of the people clapped. Some lady complained about the noise after the show, but whats the point? It's already been rocked, baby! Apparently the U of C has offices and workers or something.. pfft, whatever. At any rate, our show was a success, if not a mosh pit inducing frenzy. But hey there's always next time! Thanks to everyone who was there and who helped out.

8-14-06: Totally forgot to post anything here bout this gig. Girls Rock Chicago is a rock camp for girls and we played there for the campers. Best gig we've played to date! Everyone listened to us and there even was a mosh pit and crowd surfing! Thanks to the GRC for having us to play and to Gamine Thief, and most of all, to all of the grrrls who truly are the future of ROCK N ROLL.

9-15-06: Here we played at phyllis's with double fortune and the multivitamins. the multivitamins were pretty crazy and fun to watch and then double fortune was spot on. as far as our performance, it was pretty awesome, especially how everyone looked really confused between each song. but they still clapped. suckers!

12-31-06: a new year's eve party at the med? there is karaoke? and we get to seriously rock out? and everyone is wasted? except for us? can't think of a better way to say buhbye to 2006. thanks to the kids who let us crash their party and to our friends for coming out! maybe you can see some video from this on the youtube. or maybe not...check it out.

1-17-07: @ the mutiny with the catchelorettes and gamine thief. now this was a ton of fun. and for some reason there were a lot of people there. r. santoni was repeatedly electrocuted by both her mic and her guitar. not just little shocks either, that shit hurt. this may have been the first time that we didn't look like we were in some kind of a guitar recital. that was probably thanks to the fact that the mutiny has some bright-bright lights that shine all up in your eyes. so we could not see anyone's horrified reactions to us. so we can only assume everyone was amazed and blown away etc.

1-20-07 @ the red line tap with the locals and the cynics. we switched things up a bit here and played some random set list. i think that was a good idea, it kept us on our feet. at this show we also had MONITORS. everything had MICROPHONES pointed at it and that fed back to us. so we could, for the first time ever (including practice), actually hear ourselves while we were playing. we get better everyday. and hotter. thanks everyone who came/played/let us play there, it was a ton of fun!

2-16-07 @ ronny's with shemilaya, ice cream floats, and archaeology. this was a fun short set that left everyone wanting more. i personally heard the longest "wooo" ever in my life. a lot of the people appeared to be there to see the last band and therefore did not enter the band playing area until their selected band began to perform. sorry you missed out suckers! hope you enjoyed your red bull and jags. but for those who hung out with us, there were a lot of cool cute and fun kids there dancing and making us feel real good. this is a cool place to play too. thanks to ellie for setting it up.

2-22-07 @ hutch commons, 57th & university: yeah, here we got to play about three songs before being told to turn down because we were ruining a play that was also going on in the building. well, we couldn't really turn down anymore so we just stopped playing. that was a furious ten minutes though!

3-10-07: urban outfitters in wicker park. fundraiser for girls rock! chicago. here we got to play with our sister band, gamine thief, and i think we made another sister band too, mommy can wait. playing sandwiched in between these two bands made me feel like a delicious, happy, piece of cheese. or whatever you put on your sandwich that makes you happy. for me, it's cheese.

3-16-07: phyllis's with the catchelorettes and mommy can wait. this was the most fun playing in front of other people we have ever had. there was a lot of dancing, and when someone shouted "encore", we went into our super secret encore song that you will only see at gigs where we are being appreciated as we should. the catchelorettes braved it with a missing band member, which was impressive. then mommy can wait got everyone all pumped up and we were able to follow that energy with our own. it was amazing, thanks everyone!

3-23-07: @ the red line tap. from the best of times to the worst of times. the blurst of times? i don't know. you didn't miss a whole lot.

4-6-07: operation:sexucation. we played to a hall of enraptured college students, unfortunately it was free burritos they were enraputred with. we did have a few people watchin us play our short set that went pretty good, even with borrowed drums (thanks electric shoes!). the aforementioned 'shoes grooved and rocked out and ariana barr was sweet as ever.

4-7-07: elbo room. "yikes"

4-26-07: the santonies redeem themselves. we played with the very kind touring band SANTIAGO who happened to rock the eff out, and fellow sweet ass chicago style rock band the reptoids. we had a ton of fun at this show, and this was also the very first time someone from the audience flashed us. we are well on our way to becoming the feminist motley crue (sorry i can't find the umlauts on my keyboard). thanks to all our friends for coming out and to lucas for showing us where to get some delicious mexican food late late at night.

5-4-07: does this count as a "show"? I guess so...we played a live set to an empty room at WHPK's pure hype. this was our first time being on the radio and i think we were pretty good. it was like practice only we could actually hear ourselves. then we had an interview. all in all pretty fun thanks pure hype!

5-12-07: playing with gamine thief and shrieking violet was really quite great. I think we did a pretty good job and we got some great responses. gamine thief sounded better than ever, and shrieking violet was downright amazing. i think we made a lot of money for girls rock! chicago and we got to hang out with a lot of cool women. thanks to jane for setting it up.

may 20 '07@ the orphanage with instigator, the tall boys, and capital eye. Not many people turned out but all the other bands were super nice and played great sets. Mucho positivo experience. Thanks to all the other bands for watching us and cheering us on. You're all great.

may 24 '07@ Estrogen Fest show cancelled,no PA.

june 1 '07@ jackhammer bar with baby kage and bizzaro. great show and it was a lot of fun, too! we played first followed by baby kage who rocked it old school, and how. bizarro commanded the stage like the doors brainwashed by the germs, and proceeded to rock out like led zeppelin on airplane glue. oh and before all that we burned the place down with some cock-rock, riot grrrl (yes three r's) fury. you really shoulda been there!

July 5 '07@ Beat Kitchen with Condenada and Mommy Can Wait. Wow, the legendary Beat Kitchen... Fun show which was unfortunately the second to last for MCW, who were truly great this night. Condenada were furious live and really nice off-stage! Anyway our set was fun and thanks to all the (real cool) staff of the Beat Kitchen and to everyone who came to support the bands. YOU ROCK! (ah.. cheese)

Aug 24 '07 @ Ronny's Bar. Okay, so... wasn't exactly a wild cheering audience for this gig, but we played a great set! Not to mention we met a cool opening band, Brimstone Howl, who rock with the fury of a thousand angry barbers. But- SWEET ROCK A MIGHTY PEOPLE!! Next time, if you like real ROCK AND ROLL, come out and see us!!! Thanks to Ellie, Brian and everyone at Ronnys Bar.

Nov 9 07 @ Quenchers: There was laughter, there was tears, there was many many beers. Like a school day without class, we rocked your fuckin ass! Thanks to the swell fantastic people at Quenchers and to ev'ryone for comin' out-- this was a great show for us and we hope for you too.

Jan 19: WNUR studios.Fun radio set. We were troopers because it was cold in there. We love "NUR!

January 24: At SILVIES with Catchelorettes, the dirtbox racers, and instigator: this was a pretty good show. i think we rocked it out.(first recorded occurance of "Drumkitis Knockitoverus").

Feb,6 08 @ the Red Line Tap. Some shows define a band's career..leaving it changed forever. This was not one of those. It was a good time though. Thanks Red line tap, and to the really super awesome, attentive dude who did the sound that night, too. Man.

feb 15 08 Endzone, aurora. with INSTIGATOR, the tallboys and the catchelorettes. This was a great show and we really played loud and fierce. I really liked the Tallboys and wish they had not broken up,(this was their last show). As always Instigator kicked ass even though our drummer always talks to them drunkenly during their set like the clueless suburban hick that he is. Oh well, it was Aurora! (kidding)

march 15 08: Party at jon's. Drunken. Loud. Punishing. Grrrl Rock. First show with JANE DANGER! with Instigator (mind bending and loudly great).

april 10 08: Ronny's. Second show with Jane. We turned some heads and made some friends. Nobody can ever forget our punishing immortal rock fury that will resonate much like the Normandy Invasion, Woodstock, Dylan at Newport, and like, whenever Ronald is actually at Mcdonald's. Otherwise, yeah.. good gig.w/ girl in a coma and 8 inch betsy.

april 12 08: party at instigator's house. This was good times good friends and holes in the wall. Played with FOAUD(great) and Instigator (wow). Having to move out of yr place was never this fun before.

April 16 08: @ Phyllis's Musical Inn. Always fun time at Phyllis' because well its just a cool damn bar and we had some cool damn bands with us. Hard to find a musical line up like this one, boy. w/fear of a unified dakota and bridgeton air defense. Hugs to the drummer of bridgeton air. he's a hugger, dude.

May 8 08:The Mutiny. What a cool club. This was a searing and drunken show in which we showcased our ability to do things (like rocking the fuck out) while fairly well impaired. W/ the grrreat Condenada and sangre de abajo, and a band that hasn't quite decided on a name yet (now Lemmy Caution). Thanks again to the great people at the Mutiny!

May 24 08 @ silvie's. A fine musical performance from all. A finely tuned patriotic sea-wall of crumpled platitudes and clanging silverware. Top of the heap, a number one. Thats my kind of frown, Chicago is. Always with a smile. & we gave away free shit. w/ bromance(ow!) barren(whoo!) and the catchelorettes (zing!)

June 20 08 @ Cal's Bar. Cal's: a very cool, yet tiny bar that was perfect for the shitwave of punishing volume with which we split every audience member's soul into three very distinct and seperate sections, with each part screaming for more! more! more! I leave it to those who were there to name and recognize these parts within themselves. Some of the nicest people work here. This is a dive bar; but one with class. In a COOL way! w/ the lovely neverbeens (nyc) and the awesome band.

June 20 08 @ Fundraiser party for Condenada tour. We came, we saw, we rocked your party's ASS!!! Fucking great people here. Thanx!

August 13 08 @ Phyliss Musical Inn. With Lemmy Caution. A fine show, back on the horse after cancelling two shows due to band (hand) injury! Special thanks to the Man in Plaid for guitar assist, and a fine job he did, at that. We love Lemmy.

August 17 08 @ CLITfest. Basement rock festival celebrating Women in Punk. We rocked out like it was going out of style, and it sounded to this drummer's ears like the fury of old! A host of great bands also played and this was a fun fun gig. Jane zombie-puked with style.

September 5 08 @ Mutiny. Mutiny indeed... Nobody fucks up a show like The Cathy Santonies! Instigator was fucking great and the new drummer was just what the doctor (kevorkian?) ordered. I have to say they made this gig worth the trouble. FOAUD and Team Band kicked out the jams, muthafuckaaa!
